Rare Nevada DPO clear cancel sent to Mr. J.H.B. Harris Silver Peak Nevada Miner. Belmont Nevada Letterhead of The Bank of California San Francisco letter dateline Gold Mountain Esmeralda Co. Nev. May 11 1887 with mention Thorpe is also working on my mines. Man running after me with a Winchester Rifle and destroying and cutting a line at pipe connected with my Arrastra and going to an Indian Camp and beating an Indian with a revolver and lastly living with a Squaw. Our Justice Court is not organized yet for I ask the Frenchman the other day, the one who is appointed Justice of The Peace. I told him when his court was ready to do business, it was very likely I would have several criminal actions against different persons to bring before him and that I would stand no more foolish from persons who were destroying my property , jumping my mines and making assaults with deadly weapons.

1862 Marysville California D Street Flood B. Bigelow Guns Sign Photo CDV by L.J. Stinson
some light staining or color toning at skyline of image mount in great condition. The Great Flood of 1862 was caused by over 15 feet of snow in The Sierra Mountains that started in December of 1861 and then over 40 days of continuously raining with a estimated 37 inches of rain had fallen which whipped out every bridge leading to Marysville. The flood was felt all over the valley which included Sacramento. B. Bigelow sign visible at right side of this image with illustrated rifles on sign above porch. Benjamin Bigelow gun manufacturer business was located at 95 D street. Photographer Lewis Jackson Stinson Gallery was located at the corner of Third and D Street Marysville from 1862 to 1875.
